Lately

In our seven and a half years together I can probably count on one hand the number of times I have been out, for the evening, without my husband. I am sure that he could live without me, but he is much more fun and quick witted than I! All that aside I have snuck out of the house to attend some events a couple times this month.

The Baithouse Stompers...

Not knowing any more than their name and where they are playing I went with some friends to see the baithouse stompers. Renee invited her friends to the PUB to honor her son who is on his way back to IRAQ with some music and fun! Like I said before if I do these kind of things (which I usually do not) I have my hubby along, but he stay home with the kiddos like a champ. Thanks J! Anyway, back to the band. I get there, they are setting up and I realize they look familiar. My head starts to scroll... How do I know these guys? High school? Yeah, that is right, one was the art teacher and the other my old biology teacher. I still think it is funny! It was a great night and lots of fun.

Ennis Auction...

Somehow I became the chair of the Red Oak Chamber's annual auction. The auction is our biggest fundraiser and therefore has to be the best. We started our planning early this year and everything is on track, but I do like to scope out the other area auctions. This year it was Ennis and seeing as they have an office in Ennis I went with my parents. I got to sit between them in the truck on the way over and everything. We get there at 5pm on the dot, because my parents are always there when things start. It was great to spend some time with my parents but lets just say I will not be attending the Ennis auction in the near future...

The Kids...
Sunday was the grocery trip to get school lunch materials since Nathan and Cannon are both back to school on Monday. Nathan started 8th grade and who knows if he will ever like school. Cannon's school wants the kids there at 8 to begin their lessons for the day. Yes for the normal that would be great, but 8 is way early and jumbles my day. Way too much morning time in the office. Anyway by Monday night Cannon had already eaten all of the fruit by the foot I got for Nathan's lunch and was asking for me to go get some more from the store. He needed to get some more to eat in his tent.

The Twilight Saga...
I have been busy for the last several months and things are really changing in my office. I think I needed an escape from everything and found it with these books recommended to me by a friend. I started reading Twilight on Sunday the 17th and was hooked. I love the characters, the story and the escape. Last night I finally finished the last book of the series. I am glad that I will have my free time back, but I am really going to miss the characters.

Just wondering...
(Hopefully my only political statement from now until after the election.)
I have heard in many different setting through out my life. Give a man a fish, feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish, feed him for life. Why can't we just figure out how to teach people to support themselves instead of trying to elect someone who will just give EVERYTHING away!

That's it... Long blog, but it has been a while..

South Bound 35

If you have ever heard this song you might know it can be a little repetitive, but once you ride in the car with my 3 year old for 4 hours, it will seem like nothing. From the time we finally got in the car on Friday night at about 7, until we arrived in San Antonio at 11, I do not think that Cannon stopped talking. Then we get out of the car and he is reved up! He talks Maw into going into the hot tub until 1:30 when I finally pulled the plug on this all night party:)

Saturday filled us with food. I mean Saturday was filled with catching up and rest. Papa is gimped up. He had foot surgery on July 10th and is only able to cruise at the speed of a turtle. So we decided to take it easy and hang around the house. Maw made pancakes for breakfast, sandwiches for lunch, and THE BEST LASAGNA EVER for dinner. She likes to make sure our bellies are good and stocked for the winter. And of course we would not have it any other way!

After all the talking and eating on Saturday we got up and went to church with Maw.
It was Papa's first Sunday back since the end of June. It was a really great sermon. Meant for just for me, I think. Maybe the big guy really does know what he is doing after all. (I know, enough with the songs.) Anyway, we got back to the house, ate again, and then Cannon talked Maw into the hot tub again. While they were in there Hailey Bear and Auntie Heidi came to say bye to us before we made the journey back home.

Rest, Relax, and Celebrate

So I just got Cannon's birthday party blog up and it seems like forever ago that we had the party. Since then we have had a Sunday of NOTHING to do, Cannon's actual birthday and a visit to Maw and Papa's house in San Antonio.
We were all, okay maybe just JJ and I, so excited to have nothing planned for the Sunday following Cannon's birthday party. Just sitting on the couch watching TV and movies. It was wonderful until about 4 when we all started to get restless, but we made it through with the help of some dinner from Cotton Patch. See I might have cooked, but Big Daddy on the Food Network made this salad that reminded me of a great one from Cotton Patch. I know that Food Network shows are suppose to inspire the home chef, but all it inspired me to do was ask J to go get some dinner.
Fast forward from dinner to Cannon's birthday. For which we, Cannon, Nathan, and I, met J at work and went to lunch. Cannon thought he was so special and then got to go back to Daddy's office. We did the world tour of the office and then headed to do some back to school shopping for Nathan. Cannon and Nathan both had a great time. Nathan getting new stuff and Cannon just not being at school. Our day ended with Cannon and I having a battle of wills. See Auntie Heidi and Hailey called to wish Cannon a happy birthday. After getting off the phone with Hailey he decided that he HAD TO go to Hailey's house right now. (They live in San Antonio, four hours away, and it was Wednesday night.) I let him know that was not going to happen and he proceeded to tell me, "If we do not go to Hailey's house I am going to put my sucker on you." "Cannon," I said, "We are not going to San Antonio until Friday night." And then he puts his sucker on my leg and says, "I told you I was going to put my sucker on you if we did not go to Hailey's house." Then the birthday celebrations went south rather quickly.

Officially Three

Cannon's third birthday raced by too fast!

Since Keller, my niece, and Cannon were born only 3 days apart we always have Cannon's party the weekend before his birthday. I decided that, with the heat, if I wanted any part of the party to be out doors it would have to be an early party. That being said I picked 11:00 am, yes I do now know I am crazy! 11:00 am is way too early to get everything you need done accomplished, but some how we, JJ and I, did it! We all know people are never on time anymore, so we did have about a 15 minute buffer.

When the jumbo water slide arrived Cannon was pumped. He only found out about the slide on Friday night before bed. (For all of you who have or have had little ones you know that something that exciting would be asked about over and over and over if he knew about it too far in advanced.) So as they finish setting up the slide he was already out the door. Who cares about his party guests not being there he had to do it.... After a couple of trips down the slide his cousins and friends started to show up and then he decided he would hang out in the pool area of the slide. After a while I got tired of him NOT going down the slide and decided to get him to go down with me. That was fun, but then it was time for food, presents and cake. After all his friends went home Cannon decided he would go down the slide by himself again once Daddy, Paw, Nana, Mommy, and Wade all started playing on the slide too! We all had so much fun we want a slide of our own!
Cannon, Logan and Hunter getting candy from Ms. Kellye instead of sliding down the slide.
Here comes Hunter and Cannon is just hanging out at the bottom.
